Sisterhood---front

Sisterhood Celebration Ensemble is a collaboration of music, poetry and songs by South African women. The group seeks to create a lineage of women as instrumentalists, fine artists, poets, photographers, and also celebrate each other’s crafts and break boundaries.
The ensemble is engined by an all female quartet .The rhythm section is lead by the legendary drummer Anikki Maswanganye, who is also the founder of the most successful all female band in South Africa (Ladies in Jazz) with over 20 years experience in the industry.
The musicians are in the company of great poets Mo Afrika ‘a Mokgathi qnd Vangilw Gantsho. Vangi has been writing for as long as she can remember, but began performing seriously in 2005. She recently published her first anthology “Undressing in front of a mirror “. Mo Afrika is known for her Sepedi pen and ability to fuse jazz /soul, kiba rhythms, and vocals with her poetry. She is currently working on a poetry compilation “The Mamelodi 10” that will be published soon.
With thia kind of line up, this night promises to be nothing powerful!
