Born in Durban in a township called Chesterville, he started playing trumpet at the age of 14 in a non profit organisation called Field Band Foundation, He then moved on to Durban Music School where he learned how to read and write music. He has been involved in many other organizations like South African National Youth Orchestra, KZN youth wind band to name a few. In 2011, he got the opportunity to be part of a project called band crossing borders which is a collaboration between the Field Band Foundation and NMF (Norwegian Band Forum) which was sponsored by FK. This course was only for one year, but he decided to try to audition in one of the universities in Norway. He eventually auditioned at the University of Stavanger and got accepted, but due to financial reasons he could only start in 2012. He luckily got in touch with Mr Richard Cock and applied for the Apollo music trust fund which made it possible for him to study in this country for the past 3 years. I then started a band in 2014 the “ZULU” sextet. Since then he and his fellow band members haven’t looked back. He is looking forward to come back home and share his musical experiences.
